As members of a High Reliability Organization (HRO), every employee should practice CHAMP behavior and strive to make patient safety a top priority. Performs technical duties associated with inventory managment, including backorder, recall and daily par levelmonitoring. Completion of daily technical activities, to ensure the safe, accurate handling, storage and dispensingof pharmaceuticals in the hospital. Coordinates pharmaceutical receiving and serves as the liaison for distribution of floor stock requisitions. Ongoing monitoring and quality assurance via cycle count monitoring and tracking inventory trends. Maintains the pharmaceutical storage location and organizes to facilitate ease of removal for pharmacy staff. Timely medciations receiving and removal of requisitions to ensure delivery, data entry and accurate assessment of inventory levels. Assist with compliance auditing and process improvement opportunities for all aforementioned responsibilities.Ensures compliance with charge capture, billing, 340B and related supply chain regulations, escalating/reccomendates solutions for deviations to appropriate members of leadership.
+ Follows established procedures for inventory management including but not limited to collated dailymedication order to fulfill the meet par levels, coordinate recall segregation, communicate and assist inaction plan creation for backorder management. Additionally the position will ensure appropriate inventorylevels on pharmaceutical supplies. Inventory assurance will include monitoring of cycle counting activity ,par level management recommendation, tracking trends and communicating /escalating where necessaryrelated to outages, shortages, tracks incomplete orders and updates once medications /supplies areavailable.
+ Follows established procedures to accurately receive shipments of pharmaceuticals and supplies usedthroughout the pharmacy. Physically inspects all items reconciling invoice with actual order for accuratedrug order processing. Provides the System Buying Team with accurate documentation of receiptsincluding over shipments, shortages, and mispicks. Physically inspects all storeroom, refrigerated drugproduct orders for accuracy, completeness and condition of supplies.
+ Maintains storage areas for drugs and supplies in an orderly fashion. All drugs and supplies received will beaccurately stored in designated areas by the end of each business day. All storage bins and shelves will beaccurately labeled with item descriptions, item number and unit of issuance
+ Performs inventory duties necessary to maintain the accuracy of the perpetual inventory of drug supplies .Daily reconciliation of physical inventory with inventory tracking system
+ As the liasion to the operations team house wide inventory management is imperative, review of inventorylocation including pyxis and other areas to ensure optimal inventory turns. Assist operations whenneccessary to perform drug distribution activities including, accurate picking, packaging, and deliveringmedications for refill and load in automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxsis Machines) in a timely manner.Takes into account par levels, drawer locations and pocket size, drug package size, and drug usagepatterns to set up new loads in a manner that ensures safe drug storage, minimizes medication errors ,reduces stock-outs and subsequent refills.
+ Works efficiently and cooperatively with the System Buying Team to ensure timely and accurate delivery ofmedication and supply orders. Creates sustainable reccomendations to ensure success of aforementioned roles.

+ Ensures fiscal budgeting by monitoring trends and escalating findings to appropriate members ofleadership. Ensures compliance with free and consigned medication program requirements. Creates sustainable reccomendations to ensure success of aforementioned roles.
+ Assist in technical skill enhancement, collaboration, practice/process improvement and service excellence achievement per the outlined pillars in the Pharm Purch Invent Tech Career Ladder
+ Effectively demonstrates the principles and conduct consistent with a High Reliability Organization.
High school diploma required. Successful completion of academic or military pharmacy technician training course and certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Inventory Management Certification strongly preferred. Additional inventory management course work will be required for all Pharm Purch Invent Technicains II
One year experience as a hospital Pharmacy Purch Invent Tech I. External candidates must have three years of experience as a retail pharmacy technician and academic training or experience in other health related fields also considered
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Connecticut or eligibility to register required
Must be able to train mentor and communicate to clinical and operational staff on related inventory subject matters. Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Connecticut as outlined by the Dept. of Consumer Protection. Must be able to prioritize competing demands, work independently, show flexibility and teamwork. Demonstrate good communication skills to customers, team members and ability to work with computer equipment including the ability to perform basic troubleshooting functions. Must also be able to lift numerous totes and boxes up to 50 pounds on daily basis
