Description
The Medical Director of SCRC maintains medical/clinical responsibility for SCRC. Works in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Program Director of SCRC, and Medical Directors of other CS-HHC services to deliver quality assessment and addiction medicine services. Direct supervision of mid-level providers. Leads quality assurance of medical records, compliance with State and Federal regulations and standards of medical care. Responsible for the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reviews and evaluates clinical aspects of ongoing programs working cooperatively with the Director of BHD
• Contributes to design and evaluation of an integrated BHD, which is established upon principles of respectful client care, quality assurance, standards of practice, and positive treatment outcomes
• Responsible for the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.
• Reviews and revises clinical policies to ensure compliance and accountability to internal and external authorities, (e.g., Joint Commission, CS-HHC Board, DMHAS, DPH)
• Provides input to designing and implementing Performance Improvement plans, maintains quality of care and client satisfaction ratings
• Provides and encourages leadership to site(s) assigned
• Reviews treatment plans for appropriate/effective/quality care
• Provides direct client services. Ensures integrated continuum of services and demonstrates ethical and professional conduct at all times
• Performs medical evaluations, crisis intervention and/or medication management as needed to meet the needs of client populations in a community clinic setting
• Evaluates data relating to the bio-psychosocial consequences of physical illness, disability and/or substance abuse as required
• Appropriately documents clinical and administrative work
• Reviews/supervises mid-level providers/clinical staff assigned by Program Director or Director of BHD
• Provides education to staff as appropriate
• Attends Medical Staff meetings as a BHD representative. Provides consultation to Medical staff in addiction medicine as appropriate
• Represents Behavioral Health Division as well as CS-HHC in the community agencies, boards, and other professional activities
• Reviews and implements standards of medical/clinical care with mid-level providers
• Establishes and maintains good relationships with other CS-HHC department’s medical staff and community agencies
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education: M.D. Licensed in State of Connecticut to provide psychiatric or relevant medical services. Must be Board certified or Board eligible.
Experience: Must demonstrate experience in addiction medicine, particularly opioid treatment programs. Experience with multiple levels of care preferred. Supervisory/Administrative experience preferred.

Knowledge/Abilities: Demonstrates leadership, and ability to train other professionals. Ability to assist in management of related administrative activities. Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards is helpful. Must demonstrate age specific/population specific competencies in area(s) of practice. Ability to generate high levels of client satisfaction. Knowledge and skills related to assessment and treatment intervention in addiction medicine. Knowledge and skills related to medication management.

On occasion, the Medical Director may be required to travel to and from different work locations.
