This role will lead the Product Assurance group to certify that the R&D new product development efforts achieve all the technical specifications and customer requirements for commercialization, ensure the repeatability, reproducibility, and sustainability of product quality through operations for all legacy product lines. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership & Administration Leader or team member of quality improvement projects to reduce customer complaints and manufacturing non-conformances Supervise, coach, and professionally develop a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians towards common business objectives, metrics, and professional development goals. Ensure proper skill mix of mechanical and electronic competencies on the team to balance the entire body of knowledge required to support all equipment product lines, team duties and responsibilities; conducting cross-training on staff where necessary. Work collaboratively with R&D (Product Engineering), Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure cross-functional company goals are met. Management of laboratory and shop floor equipment, tools, capabilities and resources required to perform design verification, production validation, and quality control tests and experiments. Process Development & Management Lead the development and implementation of processes, procedures and documentation standards for: Design verification and product validation testing. Quality control of incoming material, in-process testing of sub-assemblies, and final end-of-line product certificate of conformance. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for product assembly, as established by the manufacturing engineer and product development team. Lead the review of technical drawings released from Product Engineering to ensure they meet the requirements of the Product Assurance team. Conduct training to non-staff members on following policy, procedures, and standards implemented by the Product Assurance Team. Lead Corrective Action Prevention Action (CAPA), Risk Management. Oversee non-conformance management for equipment including the review and approval of root cause analysis and corrective action. Additional Duties Translate technical specifications into a design verification plan & report (DVP&R) and design failure mode & effects analysis (DMFEA) documentation and schedule. Facilitate hands-on experiments, collect data and perform engineering analysis on new product development or legacy product troubleshooting. Author and publish, individually or through the delegation to others: Engineering reports that summarizes the data and analytics used in the experiments that clearly presents a conclusion against the functional and performance design specifications. Quality control and Assembly Work Instructions that will be used as standard operating procedures on the shop floor. User manuals and technical bulletins for the benefit of marketing and application engineering. Engineering Change Requests (ECR) for product improvements, design enhancements, cost reductions, and/or request to substitute components. Utilizes and manage outside test laboratories ensure regulatory compliance (CE) of products. Occasional travel to suppliers, customers, and professional development seminars ( EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Bachelors of science in Engineering, mechanical (BSME) or electrical (BSEE) from an accredited university, required. Minimum of 7 years engineering experience in electromechanical, optoelectronics, or photonic design, development, testing, and/or quality assurance. Prior supervision experience required. Expertise in analytical skills with solid engineering fundamentals is a must. Proficiency in ISO Quality Management Systems Proficiency in statistical test methods and Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a plus. Proficiency in the use and purchase of electromechanical, optoelectronics, or photonic laboratory equipment and instrumentation such as data acquisition tools, spectral analyzers, radiometers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, thermal chambers and other electronic test apparatus. Proven ability to self-teach, work independently and draw meaningful results/conclusions. Effective interpersonal skills to lead others and collaborate in team environment. Excellent communications skills, both written and oral, for professional reports and presentations. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word required.
