The Marlin Company is looking for a Principle Software Engineer to join its rapidly expanding Software Engineering team. This person will be a key leader of the engineering department and the primary individual responsible to manage large research and development efforts and complex projects. The Principle Software Engineer serves as technical leader for major development projects including development of new technologies or multiple simultaneous sub-projects. He or she will work closely with other engineering and technical teams in the development of solutions to complex business problems. This person will have the discretion to make key decisions with minimal oversight inclusive of decisions on engineering approach, tools, and resources for building sites/software as promptly and efficiently as possible. This position will: Collaborate with the Systems Architect in designing and developing products. The Principle Software Engineer is a high-quality coder and, as such, authors solutions that are technically efficient and effective. Provide broad technical leadership in area of expertise helping the company set technical direction and course for future programs. In conjunction with the Systems Architect, research and recommend design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility or application. Serve as technical leader for major development projects including development of devices in new technology or multiple simultaneous sub-projects. Be responsible for ensuring that design activities are coordinated per the development procedure. Mentor other engineers and technicians. Exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Possess a highly polished degree of personal communication skills, both written and verbal. Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information. Detailed Requirements: Play the role of an advocate and promote knowledge sharing across the entire Engineering Department. Keep up with industry best practices, trends, standards and identify design opportunities to improve products and operation efficiency. Become a key resource responsible for sizing and assignment of story points for projects. Be responsible for design/development activities which may include leading, participating or supporting Concept, planning, design and execution stages, including: Risk assessment Prototyping Concept validation Implementation Verification testing Desk reviews Product validation Pre-production The Ideal Candidate will have the following: Skills: High familiarity with technology and exceptionally good computer skills. Must be highly familiar with the workings of Java, C#, .Net and SQLServer as well as expertise in cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure or the like. Expertise with Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2015, Visual Studio 2015, Visual Studio Test 2015. High familiarity with open source and commercial development languages and tools. Demonstrable Communication Skills: The Principle Software Engineer has to have exceptional communication skills, both in written and in verbal form. This is especially due to the extensively collaborative role, where clarity in conveyance of information and instructions will play a significant role in determining how well collaborative tasks are executed. Result-oriented and passionate in the improvement of user experience, be a critical and strategic thinker, be highly organized, have an ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines, be a team-player and team-builder, work comfortably in constantly evolving environment, and demonstrate calmness and composure in times of uncertainty and stress. Experience: 8-10 years of experience in Software Development Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other relevant field. An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for this position.
